| The Villages at Mt. Hood have come a long way in two years. As a founding member, I am running for a second term to continue to help the growth of our Village, and also to represent the mountain to the County Commissioners and staff for the betterment of all residents.
The Mountain Express has been a huge success and I want to continue to chair it's steering committee as it grows.
I also want to continue to be a strong advocate for the Complete Communities program which began in 1999 and resulted in the ordinance that established Hamlets and Villages. the Villages at Mt. Hood is the result of Complete Communities and provides community with stronger communication and support from Clackamas County.
Please vote for Rob Reeves for the Board of Directors.

The creation of the Villages at Mt. Hood should create a platform that improves the ability of the Barlow Trail Association to gain resources for community trails, community parks, recreation trails, and other recreation opportunities. The BOD representation would allow:
. more effective ability to apply for grants,
. get county attention on the recreation needs of the community,
. work with other jurisdictions such as City of Sandy, Metro, ODOT,
Oregon Parks, etc
. more forward projects such as:
o a community center park in conjunction with the new community
center,
o Barlow Trail County Park,
o Bike lanes on US 26, Welches and Salmon River Roads,
o improved pedestrian walkways and streetscape along US26
o recreation opportunities on the new BLM lands,
o connecting to Sandy and the Spring Water Trail, and
o any other recreation opportunities we can develop. |

Susan Corwin is the Founder and Executive Director of the Barlow Trail Association. The Association was created to own and drive forward the key community issue of our lacking of safe and useful intra community pedestrian and bicycle paths. This need was called out in the Villages at Mt. Hood Strategic Plan created in 2003. The mission of the Association is community trails tying into and enhancing recreation opportunities.
Susan is web mistress for the Mt. Hood Coalition against Drug Crime, active in the Villages at Mt. Hood Strategic Planning Committee and has had a residence on the mountain since 1987. She retired from Intel in 2001 where she was a senior manager and technologist |

| I am interested in serving on the BOD because as a property owner and part time resident of Rhododendron for over 52 years, I am very interested and concerned with how the region has developed over the years and how it will continue to develop in the years to come. I recently retired and now can afford the time to devote to the varying duties that would be required with serving on the BOD. Also, I am not affiliated with any special interest group and thus would be able to offer an objective view of the many projects the Villages would like to champion with Clackamas County. |
| Describe any community activities or projects you are involved in or would like to be involved in: |
| I currently serve on the board of Directors as Treasurer for the Rhododendron Summer Home Association (the Rhododendron water purveyor). In addition, I serve on the Rhododendron CPO, as Vice President, and have been very involved with the Mt. Hood Strategic Planning Committee for a month prior to the initial petition that was submitted to the County Board of Commissioners for the approval to begin the formation of the Villages at Mt. Hood. If I were to serve on the board I would be very interested in being involved with increasing the traffic & pedestrian safety within the region and specifically within the Rhododendron Community. |

| "I'm keeping you in the driver's seat!" Local citizens managing the community through the Town Hall process is a remarkable example of pure, grass roots democracy. My pledge is to work hard as your advocate on the Villages board. I believe in moving projects and ideas to the Town Hall …for you to decide. I advocate working with the Board of County Commissioners for positive change…change that reflects the mountain character of this community. I am not in a leadership position for any Supported Activities, so I have no known conflicts of interest. I work for you. I was the past Chair of the Villages at Mt. Hood Board. I hold a BA degree in business from the University of Maryland. I retired from the Army in 2001 after 20 years of active federal service. I am a local small business owner. I sit on several community/regional boards (festival and tourism) |

| Our community seems to be changing around us. Finally, we have a chance to have a voice in brokering "community solutions" at the local level. This board requires participants dedicated to the establishing a strict code of ethics to ensure the Villages is not a board of special interests; rather a board focused on designing, through consensus, our community tapestry. I've served as a Director and VP of Marketing for the Mt. Hood Area Chamber of Commerce. I am currently a member of the Mt. Hood and Columbia River Gorge Tourism Marketing Alliance and a Board Director for the Barlow Trail Association and Spirit on the Mountain which is Mt. Hood's Christian music festival. I retired from the Army in 2001 after 20 years of military service, hold a BA degree in business from the University of Maryland, and own Mt. Hood Roasters Coffee Company. I have solid competencies I can share with the community. |

| Now is time for this community to look to the future. Times have changed and what has worked in
the past very likely will not work in the future. The village Board needs to continue to be pro active
on ensuring public safety, adequate and safe water, and that the development of our community
embraces our historical and cultural heritage. |

The Board of County Commissioners are predominantly from the incorporated western half of the
county. This means the need a Villages at Mt Hood Board that works together and can advocate the
community’s needs as a strong voice and in a manner that garnishes our commissioner’s respect. |

It has been a true privilege for me to serve on the Board of Directors
of the Villages at Mt. Hood. As the current chair, the experiences have helped me gain insight
into the variety of perspectives, interests, and needs in our local community.
For over
forty years, I have lived and worked in our area. I understand the needs of our families and
businesses-but I have also seen how our community can come together to make things better for
all of us. I believe the Villages at Mt. Hood is an effective vehicle for these improvements.
As we continue to stretch and grow as a Board, we are clarifying our role, vision, and
opportunities to improve our community. I would very much like to stay involved in this process
and I ask for your continued support as I seek to be re-elected to a three-year term.
Thank you again and please stay involved!
