Synopsis of interesting notes from
Villages BOD meeting note for July 7, 2009
by Susan Corwin

County staff retiring:
Doug McClain, John Borge, Dan Zinzer, and Ken Spiegel

CPO discussion
      talk, talk, talk, no resolutions,

Note: at the CPO meeting, the officer candidates were asked
like the villages board, "would they support decisions of the board even if they disagree..."
answer:
"the CPO board doesn't make decisions, it represents the community.
I note, that this difference of view is what is wrong with the current Villages....

Main Street Program

"Reeves confirmed that the Villages are running the Program
with the Chamber facilitating the meeting.

Nancy Dougherty has resigned
The discussion on replacing her was illuminating
       1. election at the November Town Hall (week before Thanksgiving)
       2. Applegate wants interim appointment and Romeo wants it to be
"..runner-up from the May 2009 election.."
            i.e. George "Amphitheater" Wilson
(who did not get enough votes to even be elected, per bylaws 8/16/2007 page 2:
"shall consist of those citizens receiving at least a majority of the votes cast."
       3. Amusing:
"Rick Applegate hoped that there would not be any gerrymandering," ????
" and that the Board would do what it has always done and be predictable."
=> Rick Applegate moved that the be a special meeting to appoint an interim Director
(which would be on very short notice for the community to find out about it. ..sc)

Motion to establish a communication committee with Doug Saldivar as chair
Applegate: => Gary Randal be included on the committee....
Randall has submitted a bid to do a web site using tax-payer $ from the villages
