Darned Folk Shaft ODOTJanuary 5, 2012 Here we have an example of where the Villages folk, rather than pulling the community together for a project, try to "do it themselves". Sad. ODOT is proposing US 26 / OR 35 Mt. Hood Safety and Traveler Information Project to design and install a variable speed limit (VSL) system and a variable message signs (VMS). see the PLHD application for details. ODOT would like to have as many "letters of support" as possible. Here is a copy of the December 21, 2011 email noting that there is a January 4, 2012 deadline. ODOT Email requesting letters of support. and the "sample letter of support" attached to the email So, do the Darn folk call out the cavalry and get all the businesses, organizations, and people in the area to write simple, heartfelt letters of support to make US 26 safer? No. Instead, apparently they didn't do anything. So, when there are crashes on US26 and the variable electric signs aren't there to help, some of the folk to ask why they didn't do anything are: The Villages of the Darned ! and should ODOT manage to get the funding anyway, that will tell us just how worthless the Darned folk are. |
